It has been a while since my last post. I have been busy. Sales are rising. I am slowly but surely building a following and connecting with the community. It feels great to be so well received by the community members I encounter. I have also started to connect with other business owners in the community. This warm welcome has settled some of the jitters I had in the beginning.
I have started venturing out to the surrounding communities for pop up events. My first event will be in Concord, CA which is about 20-30 minutes away from where I live and typically set up. It will be a booth event at the Contra Costa Halloween Con. So far all my events have been booths. I am hoping to have a brick and mortar pop up by the beginning of 2024.
I have also stocked my inventory with other books outside of Lil’ Libros. I found another cute line of books called Bitty Bao which are bilingual (Cantonese/English). Well, I chose to purchase the Cantonese books. They are so cute and share culture as well as language. The authors are in the process of setting up recordings so people who buy their books can listen to them as well. That is very important for learning Cantonese and other Chinese dialects as the language is very tonal. I know that some might feel Mandarin/English would have been a better. However, being from the San Francisco Bay Area where a lot of immigrants come from Taiwan and Hong Kong, Cantonese truly made the most sense. Lil’ Libros has been a tremendous way to share culture and history across generations within the community and family units. I hope to see the same experience with Bitty Bao.
