So much to consider…

I must admit, I feel a little silly. I transitioned from being an employee to being self employed on July 14, 2023. In my naïveté, I thought I should be able to pull something together by August 5, 2023. At minimum, my first pop-up event selling used books. I have now decided to slow down and be more intentional in planning for my first event.

I have never had this kind of time to simply contemplate my “next steps” before. I have been meditating, listening to business related podcasts, and researching opportunities for seed funding. I have come across some terms such as “impact investing” and discovered what a B corporation certification is. This has helped me recognize I should first develop clarity around what it is I am trying to accomplish. I will be be working on my vision, developing a business plan, and setting goals.

My first goal is to have my first pop-up event on 9/9/2023. I have already registered for my community’s Peddlers Faire. I have all the logistics in place for the pop-up. I have inventory, a sign for my store with the logo on it, and display tables. I have connected with my first wholesale distributor and have a point of sale mechanism in place. Additional goals are to develop a business plan, and create a social media presence. My self imposed deadline for these items is 9/9/2023. I feel like a toddler taking their fist wobbly steps. I am full of excitement with hope for the future.
